? about my L.C. Smith 16 gauge double barrel

I would like to know any information about my shotgun. My dad gave it to me and he said his dad had it as long as he can remember, and my dad was born in 1938. It is a 16 guage double barrel hidden hammers. I know it says field grade. The serial number on it is 185821. It appears it is a left handed shot because being a right hander when I hold it the back trigger is offset to the left. Am I correct in this?My grandfather was left handed. It is in great shape and am not looking to sell it but would like to know how much it is worth.
